Hydrogen offers a versatile and clean alternative to fossil fuels, capable of reducing carbon emissions across various manufacturing and heating processes. From steelmaking to food processing, hydrogen is the catalyst for an industrial transformation that aligns with the UK’s ambitious net-zero targets.
A significant challenge in decarbonising industry is the provision of high-temperature heat. Hydrogen provides a solution with its capacity to generate the intense heat required in industrial processes, such as glass and ceramic production and metal refining, without emitting carbon dioxide.
Hydrogen serves not only as a fuel but also as a critical feedstock in chemical manufacturing. By integrating low carbon hydrogen into the production of chemicals and materials, we are enabling industries to reduce their reliance on oil and gas-derived feedstocks.
Made with Hydrogen is a consortium of organisations responsible for manufacturing daily essentials across the UK – from the asphalt in our roads to the bricks and steel in our homes, as well as everyday household items like toilet tissue, glass bottles, and sugar.
Hydrogen UK supports these organisations in seeking greater clarity on the pathway for hydrogen’s role in British industry so that we can maintain a thriving UK manufacturing base.
