Electrification is crucial for reducing carbon emissions. But getting grid connections can be challenging. In the UK, for instance, there is a waiting list of up to 10 years for permanent locations and no options for temporary or remote sites. The lack of grid connections is also a major barrier to providing stations for charging electric vehicles. Catalsys has a unique solution that addresses these issues. Our technology enables electric power production at scale wherever needed. Central to the Catalsys innovation is a generator fueled by a custom ammonia-hydrogen blend, paired with a portable ammonia cracking solution. The efficient, low-cost units fit inside a shipping container and can generate 150kW, 300kW, or 500kW of power, depending on the demand. Units can be easily stacked to increase output.

Exolum are leaders in Europe for the transportation and storage of a wide range of bulk liquid products in a safe and efficient manner, particularly biofuels, refined and chemical products. In the UK, Exolum manages an infrastructure network composed of 2,000 kilometres of oil pipelines and 24 storage terminals with a capacity of more than 2.5 million cubic metres.   Exolum is pursuing an ambitious growth and diversification plan towards new business models in line with the energy transition, which includes contributing to the development of green hydrogen as an energy vector. For Exolum, this will include the building of hydrogen production, storage, distribution, and end-use infrastructure, including hydrogen refuelling stations. They realized that there is a need for a new diverse and highly trained workforce to cope with the demand for hydrogen. One example of a project that is creating jobs in the hydrogen sector is the HyNet project. The HyNet project is expected to create around 6,000 direct and indirect jobs during the construction phase and up to 600 long-term jobs once the project is fully operational. Interconnector Limited is the owner and operator of the bi-directional natural gas pipeline, connecting the UK with Belgium and wider European gas markets. Interconnector is a strategic energy link for cross border trade and security of supply. The Interconnector pipeline provides 20 bcm/yr of GB to BE capacity and 25.5 bcm/year of BE to GB capacity. This means that when importing at full capacity, Interconnector is able to meet over 25% of annual GB gas demand. Interconnector is majority owned by Fluxys Group – a fully independent energy infrastructure group. Headquartered in Belgium, Fluxys has assets in Europe and South America, engaged in gas transmission, storage and LNG terminalling activities. Interconnector, along with the wider Fluxys Group is actively engaged in enabling the transition to a hybrid energy future in which carbon-neutral molecules and renewable electricity complement one another in the European energy system. Meld Energy is a UK-based developer with ambitions to exceed 10% of the country’s electrolytic hydrogen created from renewable energy. The company is building a portfolio of green hydrogen production to supply net zero and low carbon fuels for industry, road transport, shipping, and aviation. Meld Energy’s first project is a 100MW electrolytic hydrogen hub at the Saltend Chemicals Park in Hull. If built today, it would be the largest green hydrogen production site in the country.

In 2018 Schwank started the journey into the development of hydrogen heating systems.
